Face Mask Sold Separately:
The Schutt AiR XP™ is a traditional shell helmet with that familiar, spherical shape that so many players have grown up with. A unique combination of tradition with state-of-the art technology in a helmet that’s small in appearance but packs the BIGGEST protection of any traditional shell helmet on the field.

Tests Don’t Lie
In head-to-head testing at 105 degree by an independent research lab the TPU cushioning inside the AiR XP dramatically out performed the bonnet system in the Xenith X1 and the foam cushioning in the Riddell Revolution and VSR-4. In fact, the Xenith X1 which is a “large stand-off” helmet absorbed 23% less impact than the AiR XP, the Riddell Revolution another “large stand-off” helmet absorbed 12% less impact while the Riddell VSR-4 the only traditional “stand-off” helmet like the AiR-XP absorbed 28% less impact than the XP.
-Xenith X1: 23% Less Impact Absorbed Than AiR XP
-Riddell Revolution: 12% Less Impact Absorbed Than AiR XP
-Riddell VSR-4: 28% Less Impact Absorbed Than AiR XP

TPU Cushioning System
We introduced Thermoplastic Urethane (TPU) Cushioning to football in 2003, with the advent of the DNA Pro. Six years later, now in its third generation, TPU Cushioning remains the best performing padding system in football today. In game-like conditions, the AiR XP outperform all the other helmets on the field. It’s proven superior to traditional foam padding in game-like conditions: better impact absorption, better heat management and better hygienics. TPU Cushioning won’t take a compression set, won’t break down (even after thousands of impacts) and is resistant to mold, mildew, fungus and bacteria while providing a barrier against MRSA and staph concern

Meets NOCSAE Standards

WARNING: Keep your head up. Do not butt, ram, spear, or strike an opponent with any part of this helmet or faceguard. This is a violation of football rules and may cause you to suffer severe brain or neck injury, including paralysis or death and possible injury to your opponent. Contact in football may result in Concussion/Brain injury which no helmet can prevent. Symptoms include: loss of consciousness or memory, dizziness, headache, nausea, or confusion. If you have symptoms, immediately stop and report them to your coach, trainer, and parents. Do not return to a game or contact until all symptoms are gone and you receive medical clearance. Ignoring this warning may lead to another and more serious or fatal brain injury. NO HELMET SYSTEM CAN PROTECT YOU FROM SERIOUS BRAIN AND/OR NECK INJURIES INCLUDING PARALYSIS OR DEATH. TO AVOID THESE RISKS, DO NOT ENGAGE IN THE SPORT OF FOOTBALL.

Better Impact Absorption
In game-like conditions, when the temperature inside your helmet can rise in excess of 115°, the performance of TPU Cushioning remains consistent. Traditional foam padding, on the other hand, performs worse. And adaptive, air-filled pockets? Not even in the same ball park.

Better Heat Management
Keeping cool and fresh on the field is at the top of every player’s list. The open-air sides of TPU Cushioning, along with the channels weaving in and out throughout the cushion, do a great job of circulating air throughout the interior of the helmet. Traditional foam padding, however, is like wrapping a blanket of insulation around your head. Restrictive black bonnets don’t do very much for keeping you cool either.

Better Hygienics
TPU Cushioning is virtually impervious to mold, mildew, fungus and bacteria. Traditional foam padding, on the other hand, can be a breeding ground for all kinds of nasty stuff. No matter how well you maintain helmets with foam padding, they can become infested and need to be replaced. With the TPU Cushioning in your helmet, that’s no longer a concern.

Better Resiliency
Unlike traditional foam padding, TPU Cushioning is ready to wear (comfortably) right out of the box. There’s no breaking-in period, like you have with foam. TPU Cushioning doesn’t take a compression set like traditional foam padding. Nor does TPU break down like foam – even after thousands of impacts.

AiR Maxx (TPU) Jaw Pad
Available as an optional accessory the AiR Maxx TPU Jaw Pad! The same great protection in the rest of your helmet is now available in an all-new jaw pad! The AiR Maxx Jaw Pad, available exclusively from Schutt, is a TPU jaw pad that combines the comfort and fit of a soft, vinyl-covered pad with the better protection of TPU Cushioning.

Q: How do I attach the faceguard to my new AiR XP Elite helmet?
A: You must use proper hardware to attach the faceguard to the AiR XP Elite, which features our exclusive Quarter-Turn Release System. Be sure to follow the instructions that come with your AiR XP Elite helmet. This system uses hardware (screws and T-Nuts) that makes it easier to attach and detach faceguards from the helmet. The Quarter-Turn Release System requires larger holes be drilled into the helmet shell to accept its special hardware.
You should never attach a faceguard to an AiR XP Elite helmet using the hardware from any helmet that is not an Elite model. Doing so may compromise the helmet’s performance.
